KD JEANTY
This organization means a lot because as a person that can visit Haiti and see the disarray in the streets, I can only imagine how the communities there feel about living in it. This organization is an opportunity to bring agency, education, and opportunity back into the City. Haiti has fought so hard to survive, but we can help some of our most vulnerable citizens live.
This Isn't Just About Trash
Haiti is closer than China — it can become a new hub for sustainable production, tourism, and innovation.
This isn’t just about trash. It’s about hope, jobs, health, and freedom.
Cap-Haïtien faces urgent environmental and economic challenges. But with crisis comes opportunity for transformation.
Have questions? We’re here to help
Why focus on Okap?
Okap is a historic city rich in culture, yet it is currently facing serious challenges, including unmanaged waste problems, health risks caused by burning trash, widespread illegal dumping, flooding due to blocked drainage systems, and rising youth unemployment. These growing issues threaten both the environment and the well-being of the community, making immediate, community-driven change not only important but urgently necessary.
Why is action needed now?
Health risks are increasing due to ongoing trash fires, improper waste disposal, and continued environmental neglect. These factors are severely impacting public health and the overall quality of life in the community. The longer we delay action, the more dangerous and difficult the situation becomes. Now is the time for real, community-led transformation that protects both people and the environment.
